Welcome to my
online journal...

My name is Alexander Gordon Smith, and I'm the author of various books including The Inventors series and the brand new Furnace series.

This is my blog, and is where I talk about books, writing and, well, probably other stuff too...

Furnace Epilogue!

This is a message to everybody who has finished reading Furnace 5 – everybody else, look away!!!

Okay, the epilogue that is promised at the end of Furnace 5 has been written, but it hasn't quite made it online yet. This is one hundred per cent my fault, and I offer a million apologies to those of you who are waiting to find out what happens after the end of the story! The epilogue is now with my publisher, and it should hopefully be available to read sometime next week. I'll keep you posted on how it goes, and let you know as soon as it's online!

I'm really sorry about that!! It's worth the wait!!

Furnace is incredible and I am happy to say only 2 books have ever made me cry, including Furnace:Execution! Words simply don't express how amazing it is, I really didn't expect the ending. I am looking forward to reading the epilogue - keep up the great work, Alexander! =)

I am free.

From the moment I touched the first furnace book, I was trapped. With the epilogue, I finally am free.

I don't know to feel relieved or sad but this book has brought me on a emotinal journey unlike no other. Yes, I finally understand that I won't have to be perfect to have my parents love me, to be accpeted in this world, to be good. I found my hope.

For that, I thank this series. :)

Furnace is an adventure ill never forget, its the best series i have ever read! I can only dream that another stranger does exist, just to bring the books back! The epilogue made me alot happier as it gave the story an ending that it needed, especially how you kept the survivors together :)
Nice work Gordy!

I will keep checking back, then. I am so glad that I was able to complete the series. I just looked today and Execution does't come out in the states until November of this year. I have a waiting list in the library of several students who have been waiting for me to finish this one so I can share the book and pass it on. Thanks again for skyping with us at Montgomery Junior High.

I loved this series, and I cried all the way during the epilogue because I feel like I lived with Alex these days. Man, did I snivel. Every time Alex would remember Donovan. And when Simon died I think a piece of me did as well. A great book, and I'm in a way sad and happy to see it finished.

Thank you for Alex, Zee, Simon, Donovan, Lucy, Monty and everybody else. Thank you for Furnace.

I have just finished reading the furnace series and it was a truly inspired piece of work from beginning to end. I loved how you tied everything up by the end of the books, including sub-themes like alex's relationship with his folks. And much as Im a pansy for a happy ending, I did respect how you werent afraid to sacrifice key players where the story realistically demanded it. I kept quietly hoping for Donovan to come back somehow, but it would have destroyed the intregity of the plot if he had.
So well written and action-packed. You have a very creative mind. Bet your dreams are very interesting ;o)
